Spring Beauty Essentials

Finally, Spring has sprung! Is it just me or did this Winter feel like it would last forever? I’m so happy that the weather is warming up, and that I can finally stop hibernating. With fresh air and new life outside, I’ve been transitioning to a more fresh and lively beauty routine. Here’s what I’ve been reaching for everyday over the past few weeks:

The Body Shop Chamomile Cleansing Butter has changed my life. I have been using it every night to take off my makeup and, I’m telling you, nothing has ever removed product so easily. I scoop a little bit out and work it into my skin until everything starts to break down. Everything just melts away. It even removes waterproof mascara in a pinch. And once I’ve washed it off, my skin is left feeling so hydrated and healthy.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Facial Wash & Moisture Cream have been holy grail parts of my skincare routine since I discovered them about three years ago. They are perfect for someone who has sensitive skin because they are so gentle. The moisture cream also has versions for dry skin, combination skin and all skin types.

Whenever the weather starts to warm up, I feel the need to shed my full coverage foundation routine. Every Spring/Summer, I find myself reaching for BB and CC creams. The lightweight coverage and added SPF always makes them feel like the perfect product for the heat. The IT Cosmetics CC Cream is the one I’ve been using almost every day. This product is perfect. The coverage is beautiful. I have sensitive, problem skin and this CC Cream covers all my redness and evens my skin tone but still feels incredibly lightweight. It has a luminous, natural finish, and even with great coverage, it still truly looks just like skin!

In the same vein, I love having a natural glowy complexion during the warmer months. My favourite, natural looking highlighter is MAC Skinfinish in Lightscapade. It gives the skin a beautiful sheen but it never looks like you’ve brushed a stripe of product onto your cheeks.

Tarte Lip Paint in Festival and NYX Intense Butter Gloss in Tres Leches have been my go-to lip combo for the past month. I love a nude lip and Tarte’s Festival is the perfect natural nude for my skin tone. At work, I often wear this shade on its own but when I’m going out, I’ll paint on NYX’s Tres Leches overtop for a more sexy, glossier lip.

I always find my body especially dry and flaky after a long and miserable Winter. I work extra hard to make sure my skin is soft and supple. Jane & Thunder Whipped Body Butter has been my savior during this transitional season. Courtney’s body butters come in Lavender and Citrus but you have the option to customize your scent. She made me a beautiful sandalwood body butter that I have been obsessed with. The lightweight formula is heavenly to apply and has cured cracks in my skin countless times. I usually apply the body butter at night so that it sinks into the skin and leaves it feeling silky smooth the next morning. (Bonus: Courtney also does body scrubs to destroy all that dead and flaking skin).

As much as I try to deny it, I’m a natural brunette. I’ve been dying my hair blonde for about 4 years now, and I love it. But what I don’t love is how cracked and brittle my hair is now that it’s constantly being bleached. Now that summer is right around the corner, I’m well aware of how much breakage is bound to happen between jumps into the lake, hours in the sun and constantly yanking my hair into a messy bun. The OGX In-Shower Miracle Oil has literally saved my hair. Since I’ve started using this, my hair has felt so much softer and healthier, and I swear it has grown ten times faster!
