Spring Wardrobe Must-Haves

The weather this year seems to be getting warmer and warmer, and from the looks of it this spring and summer is going to be a hot one! I’m not big on the heat, so this spring I’m all about chic ways to keep cool.

Right now I am loving wrap tops. They are usually very light fabrics, very flowy, and they give a great breeze as you walk which I love when it’s scorching hot outside. I recently got this green one from Asos, and I desperately want to get it in every colour. It’s just the right length to go with jeans, shorts, or a skirt, and still accentuates the waist which defines the shape of the body. It’s a definite must have for the hot weather!

For the bottom half, I am completely taken by cropped culotte jeans. Typically I would never wear jeans in the hot weather, but the cut of these is so wide that it lets in a nice breeze, keeping you nice and cool. The fit is really good for most body types as well, as it hugs the belly which I always love in any pants I buy, and has a lovely straight leg which is a really flattering shape on the legs. I recently got this pair in navy and white from Zara Kids (yes, kids. It fits me better) but these are all over the place right now. Both colours are fantastic and versatile, but I personally love the white for hot weather.

Shoe-wise, my go to pair of flats right now are these pink bow flats from JustFab. I adore JustFab’s shoe collection, and the prices are reasonable, so most of my shoes tend to come from there. These adorable flats are such a light and neutral shade of pink they go with most things, and they add a little bit of oomph to any outfit! The bow gives them a nice feminine touch, and they’re perfect for walking around all day in. Unfortunately these are sold out currently, but similar pairs can be found here.

Tied cropped blouses are another go-to item for me right now. Blouses are great, as they are typically made with thin materials, which are very airy. This crop is from Zara Kids, and it is so versatile – it will easily work for high waisted bottom styles, skirts, shorts, or for those who wish to show a bit of midriff. For me, I typically prefer cropped tops over regular length tops, as they  fit my short torso much better. Another tip is to unbutton the bottom two or three buttons on a regular length button up blouse, and tie it! Thus creating a new style with an already owned shirt.

Warm weather is the perfect time to go exploring – whether it be in the city or out in the wilderness – and I was in need of a new pair of runners (trainers). My husband Kellan and I love to walk everywhere, and now that the weather has warmed up in London, we are doing a lot more exploring! Comfort is key for me when it comes to runners, but another huge factor is how hot they make my feet. I am not someone who loves being hot, and so breathable shoes are a must for me. These pale blue/grey Nike’s are my newest addition, and they are a dream. They offer half sizes, which is ideal for those who are between sizes like me. They are breathable, comfortable, and their neutral colour works so well with my spring wardrobe. They’re perfect with jeans, a casual dress, or even shorts, and are stylish enough to not ruin a nice outfit. A definite spring must-have!
