Last Minute Mother’s Day Gift Guide

Mother’s Day is right around the corner and if you’re anything like us, the date crept up on you and now you’re rushing to find the perfect gift for mom. Don’t fret! We’ve done the heavy lifting for you and found some amazing gifts that you can run out and grab with almost no time to spare.

Here are Megan’s last-minute ideas:

For the mom with a sweet tooth

My mom would be the first to admit that she is a total chocoholic. There’s nothing she loves more than kicking her feet up and relaxing with a glass of wine and a piece of decadent chocolate. Godiva released some gorgeous gift sets specifically for Mother’s Day. Not only are the boxes designed beautifully and the chocolate delicious, but many are accompanied by a small gift just for mom. Like this one, which comes with the ‘My Mom In Her Own Words’ journal or this one, accompanied by a set of heart-shaped tea cups. But there are many other option so you can find the perfect set for your mom!

For the sentimental mom

If your mom is the sentimental type, a canvas or framed print of a photo of you (and your siblings if you have them!) is an awesome last minute gift. Both Justine and I got married this past year, so we have our fair shares of images to get printed. I’ll definitely be purchasing prints from my wedding for my mom. My favourite place to order high quality prints is Artifact Uprising. But if you’re on a tight budget, places like Walmart and Target do beautiful prints and canvases as well.

For the floral mom

I think it’s safe to say that every mom loves receiving flowers. There’s just something so thoughtful about fresh flowers – especially if you happen to know what her faves are. My local shop, Mint Floral Co, often does a Saturday ‘flower market’ where you can put together your own bouquet using fresh stems in the shop. Check out the flower shops in your area to see if something like this is an option. But be sure to get there bright and early before all the popular stems sell out! If you’re not within driving distance of your mom, don’t worry, you can still get her flowers! Online services like DMP Flowers and Gifts let you select the bouquet you think would be perfect for her, and delivers it right to her door (or office).

For the tranquil mom

One of my mom’s favourite things is to relax at a spa. She loves the calming environment after working hard all week. My favourite gift to buy for my mom is a gift card for a spa day for the two of us. It’s perfect because she gets to do something she loves, and we get to spend quality time together. When a full spa day is out of the question (and budget), instead I’ll treat us both to a pedicure.

For the coffee-drinking mom

In our family, mugs are a frequent gift. We all love to give and receive them. My husband rolls his eyes at the overflowing cupboard filled with mugs from around the world. Luckily, my mom finds them charming, sentimental and…necessary. She guzzles coffee like it’s her day job. If your mom is anything like mine, a mug may just be the perfect gift! Anthropologie has hundreds of beautiful mugs but this one and this one are my top picks for mom this season. Indigo also has this fun mug perfect for the mom who’s always running from soccer practice to dentist appointment to lunch with grandma. It’s a whopping 16oz so there’s plenty of room for her favourite brew. If you’re feeling especially generous, you can treat your mom to a new coffee maker. This Nespresso Lattissima machine has all the bells and whistles so she can save money and have her non-fat, sugar-free vanilla macchiato in the comfort of her own home (and you can become her new favourite child).

Here are Justine’s last-minute ideas:

For the travelling mom

If your mom loves to travel, this adorable Indigo 4-piece travel set is absolutely perfect! It helps to organize her toiletries and smaller essentials, while staying compact within her bags. It brings a chic look to her luggage, and adds a pop of colour to any bag. This passport cover is the perfect mix of semi-neutral colour without being too bold. It’s a great way to keep her passport looking cute at all times. On a similar note, this Matt & Nat wallet is a great size to travel with! It’s a nice and neutral colour, and a chic and streamlined style, which is a perfect wallet to take travelling!

For the mom who loves her wine

Rosé is the newest wine craze (even though it has been around for ages) and there’s nothing better for a rosé-loving mama than a guide to her favourite drink! The book Rosé All Day is a perfect guide to teach her everything that she’d ever want to know about rosé. For the wine mom who isn’t a fan of rosé, but loves white or red wine, try The World Atlas of Wine, which will give a very thorough description and analysis of anything and everything relating to wine! Of course, you can also grab her a bottle (or two) of her favourite wine along with one of these adorable wine glasses specifically for moms like this one, this one, or this one!

For the reading mom

I definitely got my love of books and reading from my mother, and on a quiet night there is nothing she loves more than curling up with a good book. Aside from her favourite authors, some good picks this season are The Season of My Mother, In the Company of Women, Reese Witherspoon’s new book: Whiskey in a Teacup, Mom & Me & Mom, The Magic of Motherhood, 200 Women, and of course for staying nice and cozy there’s a classic pair of reading socks from Indigo to keep her toes nice and toasty!

For the gardening mom

Some moms, like mine, are wild about gardening. My mom loves to check out her local garden centres every year, Depending on your locale, you can get your mom a gift card or, better yet, spend the day with her at the garden centre, helping her pick out items that she would love to have in her garden. Another alternative is a plant-your-own potted plant from Indigo. I purchased one for my mom last Mother’s Day, and she brought it to her office and grew it there! She loved it because it lasted long-term, and she was able to bring one of her favourite hobbies to work with her.

For the fashionista mom

For all the fashionista moms, it can be hard to pick out something that they would love, and unless they have something specific they’ve asked for, you can be stuck wandering the mall for ages trying to pick out something she would like. Here are a few things that would fit the bill! This adorable S’Well bottle is perfect for the on-the-go fashionista mom to keep hydrated in the chicest way possible! Another great gift is this adorable little zip-up jewellery box by Indigo. This way, mom can keep her jewellery organized and compact, while keeping it cute at the same time. Another great addition to her collection, would be this chic coffee table book, In Vogue, that is a comprehensive background on all things Vogue!

We hope this list helps you find the perfect gift for mom. Happy shopping!
